Talking to Ducks is quite a clever thing to do..

Food for thought.

Bientôt l’été – My thoughts [quasi-review]

[This was written in response to what someone said on Steam. It’s not directed towards the reader or anyone else for that matter, it’s simply a reposted reply that I’d like to not be forgotten. This game truly is a trainwreck..]

People like to get their moneys worth when they buy a game.
Even Dear Esther and Proteus that are completely devoid of gameplay,
Are worth more than this.
This should, at most, have been about £3.
It’s thin, it’s shallow, it’s patronizing, and worst of all, it’s smug.
I highly doubt Tale of Tales made this for customer satisfaction,
And that is what I find most deplorable – the fact that it’s been subliminally marketed and sold as an almighty advance in the new-agey-epiphany-inducing-masterpiece genre, when in fact it is nothing more than a bucket of contrived drivel; a vain and narcissistic trophy.

Nice graphics, and nice music, I’ll admit
But that doesn’t make it a worthwhile ‘game’.
And it certainly doesn’t justify the price – £7/$10

Well done artists, well done musicians – you did a good job.
But whoever designed this game, wow.
Stop watching french avant garde films and start going outside once in a while.
[Hint: Fresh air does actually exist beyond the pseudointellectualbabblebubble]

Fine, make games like this –
But don’t expect others to be enthralled by such complete disregard for the consumer.
And whoever enjoyed it – fine. Good for you. I’m glad you can get off to it, but I – and many others – really don’t. And it’s not because we’re narrow minded. It’s because we know baloney when we’re served it, and this – as far as I’m currently aware – is the largest portion of it that I’ve come across yet.

Yes, it won an award. So what? Hitler was elected as Time Man of the Year in 1938 and Stalin got the same award twice – but does that mean that I should be at all compelled, or required in the slightest, to admire and respect them?

No.

Ice Cream and Crazy Dreams..

•November 2, 2010 • Leave a Comment

Good.. afternoon! [I think]

Today I woke up and it took me a while before I felt like I was conscious. Why? Because I had the most incredibly bizarre dream! I have lots of dreams, but recently I seem to be having more of them than usual. However, I can’t remember anything that happened in the dream right now.
The funny thing about dreams though, is that sometimes you can suddenly remember them all at once. Once, I was in a shop, and I picked up a bag of minstrels [a type of chocolate with a hard candy shell.] and I immediately remembered my whole dream in a peculiar flashback. I remembered that I had picked up a square bag of minstrels in the dream, and then the rest flowed back to my mind.

In fact, recently I have been having some dreams about Chess! I’m not surprised really, considering how much I have been playing it. I close my eyes and the first thing I see is an 8 by 8 checkered grid with a random array of knights, bishops pawns and all the rest of the well known Chess platoon =]

For those that play Chess, I recommend you join a site called www.chess.com

My username on there is MrMusicalLion – challenge me to a game! 🙂 I’ve been getting better recently, so watch out 😉

I think the best way to learn Chess, is to first of all HAVE FUN. Secondly, make sure that you understand that every Chess match is a lesson to learn. You must review your moves, ask yourself ‘Why did I lose’? It is this process of self-review which enables us to progress in any area in life. I’ll repeat that again because it’s quite important. Self review enables us to progress in any area in life. The key to self-review is to find where you went wrong and then to figure out what was wrong and why it was wrong. Also you have to figure out where you succeeded and why. It is when we understand the reasons for success or failure, that we become more in control of our success.

The reason why I am able to create what I create, with such precision and finesse [I’m not boasting, I’m being honest. I like to make sure I do things exactly how I want it to be done.] is because I refine everything that I am creating, constantly. When I write a poem, I do about 10 pages of notes, using each little idea that I come up with as though they were pieces of a puzzle, which I then assemble to create a finished product. The same applies to my music and also my art.

Oh and as for Ice Cream,

Have a look at this: http://www.who-sucks.com/food/101-frightening-ice-cream-flavors-from-around-the-worl

And here’s a poll that you can take part in! Let me know what you think is the most vile flavour. Views are valued! 😀

*warning: do not look if you have just eaten. ghastly flavours guaranteed to make you squirm!

First they came..

Well today has brought some interesting thoughts to me. A friend directed me to this quote:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came

‘They came first for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.

Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up.’

-Pastor Martin Niemöller

The context of the quote is in reference to ‘the inactivity of German intellectuals following the Nazi rise to power and the purging of their chosen targets, group after group’

It is important for us all to note, that when you see another persecuted, it is in your best interests not to sit idly by, watching from a distance, thinking that you are safe. Persecution spreads like fire – at first you may be able to simply view it from a distance, you can see a few sparks. Then it spreads, you can feel a little bit of heat now yet the effect is somewhat dim.

Before you know it, the fire has spread to your very doorstep and it’s your turn to escape the flames. Think twice before deciding to press the ‘ignore’ button. When you see someone struggling in life, don’t walk on by thinking it’s not your problem. Because one day you could possibly be in that situation – and then you will wish there was someone who cared.

Anyway! On a lighter note: You may have noticed I have titled my page ‘musings of a create-aholic’. What does that mean? Firstly, I’ve just demonstrated some of my musings – the deeper thoughts of my soul, the ponderings of a wandering mind. Now to show you my create-aholic streak!

Today I have been working on my book plot 🙂 I have been working on it for about.. a week now 😀 I have written 30 A3 pages of notes, [double sided pages, that is] in preparation for writing it ^_^ I like to be thorough! There is a golden rule for creating anything, too. You must enjoy what you are making!

Aside from this, I have been learning Computer Science through free online video lectures of course CS50 in Harvard University :] It’s cool! Free education, and in the comfort of my own home! 😀 I have also been exploring genetic engineering [character research for the book] and also Maths 🙂

And now, for some food..! tt4n!

Hey!

Well this is my blog.. I decided I wanted to keep one because .. well I just do 🙂 What will I put here? I dunno, random stuff I like =] You better get used to seeing random emoticons everywhere, they seem to come out from my fingertips without me realising it ^_^

So without further ado, I introduce my youtube channel! I am an improvisational pianist, I compose music on the spot. You might think ‘oh so it’s not that good then’

Well.

I’ll let you be the judge of that 😉

Enjoy!
